    Frequently Asked Questions

The doctor first listens to your complaints, measures your visual acuity, and examines the structure of your eyes. If necessary, they dilate your pupils with drops for a detailed examination and create a treatment plan accordingly.

    • Bring your glasses and contact lenses with you.
    • Note down any medications you use regularly.
    • Writing down your complaints before the visit makes the process easier.

Diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, rheumatic diseases, and brain tumors can show signs in the eyes. Blurred vision, double vision, or visual field loss may be the first signs of these conditions.

Drops are not required for every examination. However, if the retina, optic nerve, or fundus need to be examined, the pupil is dilated with drops. This allows for a clearer evaluation of the internal structure of the eye.

The house, ring, or letter charts used in the examination measure visual acuity. They determine from which distance you can see clearly.

On average, it takes 15–30 minutes. If detailed examinations with drops or additional tests are needed, the duration may be slightly longer.

    • Drops that dilate the pupils
    • Drops that test for dry eye
    • Anesthetic drops for painless examination
    • Visual acuity test
    • Intraocular pressure measurement
    • Fundus examination
    • Corneal thickness measurement
    • Visual field test
    • Retinal tomography (OCT)

Cataracts, glaucoma, retinal tears, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye disease can be identified. Early diagnosis is very important to prevent vision loss.

    • For healthy individuals without complaints: every 1–2 years
    • For diabetes, glaucoma risk, or advanced age: more frequent check-ups are recommended.
